Every year, the mailman delivers that infamous blue envelope which includes an invitation for filing your personal income tax return. Even though you might sometimes not receive such an invitation, there is still no escaping to the obligation of filing a tax return. Even if there is no obligation at times, it could prove very worthwhile to file one anyway, as you could be entitled to a tax refund. Filing a tax return has always been a pretty tough job, or at least not peoples’ favourite one. Many questions are raised in the return and it is not always clear which items are applicable to your situation, for instance:
- You sold a house and you bought another house. Are you able to deduct the full interest on your new mortgage?
- You started your own company. Are you entitled to certain facilities for entrepreneurs such as the self-employment deduction, the start-up deduction and the pension reserve? What are the requirements for each of the deductions?
- You bought bitcoins and you are interested if you need to mention these bitcoins in the tax return and against which value?
- You are earning foreign income (wage, pension), is this income subject to income taxes in the Netherlands?
These questions are just an example of questions which could be applicable to your situation but as yet have not found the answers to. Verberne Consultancy can help you in answering these questions for you.
