2019 almost ends, but 2020 is getting close now!
As most of you probably do at the end of each year is looking back at that year. This also applies to me. The year 2019 has been the year that, after 15 years, I replaced my existence as employee for being me as a self-employed. A year that characterized itself by freedom, but also hard working and making many hours, spending a lot of time on acquisition, dealing with disappointments and the related insecurity, but also welcoming new clients and receiving appreciation of them for the work spend. I am happy to confirm that this step has been really good for me. My ambition for 2020 is to help entrepreneurs and private individuals again with their fiscal and administration matters and, therefore, I am looking forward to 2020 and also with a lot of confidence.
2019 has been the year that, among others, entrepreneurship was part of the political agenda. It seems that artificial self-employment is still a big issue. A lot of discussions took place and a lot of plans have been made. However, currently no true action has been taken yet. It looks like this is a difficult hurdle to overcome. Hopefully in 2020, more clarifications will be made about this subject so both the client, the self-employed and all other parties involved are able to focus on the things they do best.
As in previous years, a few changes will take place as of 1 January and which should apply to each target group and on each subject. Of course, you are able to contact me in 2020 again in case you require advice on any specific subject. I am very happy to assist you on this. With respect to the year 2020, I would like to point out the following substantial changes:
• A two-scale system. Income from work and own home will be subject to a tax rate of 37,35% (income till EUR 68,507) and 49,5% (income that exceeds EUR 68,507);
• The general tax credit and employed person’s tax credit will be increased;
• The self-employment deduction will be decreased to EUR 7,030;
• The corporate income tax rate for profits till EUR 200,000 will be decreased from 19% to 16,5%. The rate in the second scale will remain the same (25%).
Verberne Consultancy would like to wish you Happy Holidays and a very happy, healthy and a successful 2020 from a business point of view! I would love to speak to you very soon!
